Shovels & Rope
Husband and wife duo Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst, better known as Shovels & Rope, create timeless Americana music with an exhilarating edge. Inspired as much by the Cramps as Woody Guthrie, the dynamic duo became an overnight sensation with the release of their 2012 debut O’ Be Joyful, earning them high praise from fans and critics alike (as well as the Americana Music Honors & Awards’ prize for Best Emerging Artist). Since then, Shovels & Ropes have exceeded the lofty expectations set by their debut by releasing a series of critically acclaimed albums, as well as creating an award-winning documentary, a series of children’s books, and much more.
Al Olender
Al Olender doesn't want to hide from you. Al is a singer-songwriter from Baltimore, Maryland. Her songs sit in the world between day dreams and night thoughts. Equipped with voice and guitar, her music pulls from the enduring melodies of classic folk songs, stacked high with harmony. Drawing influence from the songs her dad would sing to her in the grocery store and the eclectic CD car collection of her mother, her music takes quiet turns toward unapologetic loud femininity.
